Business Model

This is a hybrid triple helix and open innovation business model that combines elements of the triple helix model and open innovation approach to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between academia, industry, and government in order to drive innovation and economic growth.

The triple helix model emphasizes collaboration between the three key players in innovation – Makerere University, Creative Transformation Africa, and Uganda Industrial Research Institute – in order to create new knowledge, technology, and products. This model recognizes that innovation is not the sole domain of any one sector, and that collaboration between sectors is essential for innovation to flourish.

Open innovation is an approach that emphasizes the sharing of knowledge and ideas across organizations and sectors in order to drive innovation. This approach recognizes that innovation can come from both internal and external sources, and that collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential for innovation to occur.

In a hybrid triple helix and open innovation business model, these two approaches are combined to create a system of innovation that is more open, collaborative, and inclusive. This model emphasizes the following key features:

Collaboration between academia (lead partner is Mak), industry (lead Partner is CTA), and government (lead partner is UIRI) to work together to create new knowledge, technologies, and products that can benefit society as a whole. We emphasize the sharing of ideas and knowledge across organizations and sectors in order to drive innovation. We are adaptable and flexible, allowing partners to respond to changing circumstances and new opportunities. Our core interest is to create and develop new businesses and start-ups that can drive innovation, economic growth, and responsive to the needs of society.
