The centre aims to have a biobank infrastructure that is equipped with state-of-the-art specialized storage systems such as fridges and freezers or liquid Nitrogen tanks for short to long term storage of samples used in biomedical research. The samples are well annotated and preserved in a well maintained cold chain to preserve sample integrity and quality according to international standards.
There are various Bio-specimens that are collected and managed in the unit which include; tissues, plasma, serum, DNA, urine, saliva, PBMC’s and other fluids. The research findings obtained from analysis of these samples will allow the development of new diagnostic tests and discovery of treatment options.
